Corey and Dawn-Marie Godbe are the heart and hands behind Godbe Leather; where each piece tells a story from the past and carries it forward for new generations. While they see themselves as a small part of each piece’s journey, Corey and Dawn-Marie know the leather itself holds a legacy all its own—each handcrafted item is a chapter in a story that spans lifetimes.
Corey and Dawn-Marie’s journey began in a way familiar to many modern couples—they met online and quickly discovered a shared passion for creativity and craftsmanship. They’ve been together since 2019, building their life and their craft side-by-side. Their combined talents shape every piece they create. With Corey’s experience as a crane operator bringing a deep understanding of working with his hands. Known for his drive to continually refine his skills, Corey has honed each leatherworking process to deliver products of exceptional quality and durability.
Dawn-Marie’s artistic journey took a longer route to leather. Though she has a natural artistic flair from high school and a father who was an artist, she initially pursued accounting, dedicating over 20 years to the field. After partnering with Corey and immersing herself in leatherwork, she found herself drawn back to her artistic roots - now specializing in creating custom art pieces that reflect her unique vision and skill.
Together, Corey and Dawn-Marie blend quality craftsmanship with highly personalized artistry, crafting leather pieces that are not only beautiful but carry stories through generations. Their work celebrates the enduring appeal of leather and their commitment to creating something meaningful, beautiful, and lasting.

Some things about leather
You may be curious about:
1. It’s likely that you’ve been victim to “genuine leather” marketing bullshit. “Genuine Leather” is one of the core reasons that Dawn-Marie and I started our small business. Please take a moment to do your own search for “What is genuine leather?” You’ll discover: THERE IS NOTHING GENUINE ABOUT GENUINE LEATHER. Most leather products (about 95%) today are made from ground up bits of leather shavings, that are squeezed and glued into long rectangular rolls similar to particle board. Its full name is “bonded genuine leather”. Dawn-Marie and I don’t have any of that shit in our shop. We only use 100% full grain, veg-tanned leather in EVERYTHING we make. The products we make are durable, will age gracefully and are as unique as the leather we use. The hide cut for each or our products are from different animals with inherent variations. These imperfections, scaring marks, grain configurations, irregularities and our tailored-made designs add characteristic to each individual piece. We only use the BEST type of leather that you can get for your dollar and that means our prices will represent this standard. You aren't paying for shit.
